Another global innovation get together was staged by CES and we are left to speculate about if those new innovations packed in the form of unique, sleek and well-crafted packages we saw introduced are going to hit the mass production stage for us to actually own as many as we can afford. The reality is that most of the new and exciting technologies presented in the CES are “vaporware” – a unique term usually used by tech fanatics to describe CES-introduced concepts that never really hit the marketplace for selling. These new innovations opened our minds to different and unique possibilities only to find out after months of waiting that they are nowhere to be found in any marketplace we browse through.
Fortunately though, not all product concepts introduced during a CES event are vaporware. In fact, there is quite a list of exciting new products presented in the CES 2014 event that we can actually own this year and 14 of them are the following:
Samsung Galaxy NotePro & TabPro – the former will come with a Magazine UX running on top of Android 4.4, while the latter will come in different sizes plus the Wi-Fi and LTE capabilities. Both should already be in the market early 2nd quarter this year.
Asus PadFone X – for the US tech consumers, here is a phone-to-tablet transformer update that can be grabbed at AT&T later in the first half of this year.
Audi Smart Display – a tablet integrated with Audi’s in-vehicle infotainment system. For those who are curious about the produce of the Open Auto Alliance, this will serve as your first treat from Audi. Those with Audi cars can use this as a remote to control connection functions.
Sharp Aquos Quattron Plus – a “game changer” TV as John Herrington, President of Sharp, would say. Boasting a subpixel count of 10 million more, it is a monster of a full-HD TV featuring the highest resolution you will find available in the marketplace first quarter this year.
Sony 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector – the summer of this year is the target release date for this impressive short-throw projector. However, with a price tag of $30,000 to $40,000, it might keep your excitement to the minimum.
Samsung 85U9B bendable TV – from tube, to flat screen (Plasma, LCD & LED), now comes a bendable one. After seeing this, I actually wondered about the next thing for TVs. This user-bendable TV curves upon a press of a button. Wow! Is not it futuristic?
Philips Screeneo HDP1590 – with the introductory price of $1,799.99, it is the ultrashort-throw projector that is sure to upset the expensive one introduced by Sony. Be mindful of the projection quality though. The sweet price might mean less on areas where you expect more.
Smart Appliance Category:
Samsung’s Chef Collection dishwasher – for those who need a high-tech dishwashing machine, get to know Samsung’s DW80H9970 dishwasher. Samsung is really up to helping us live an easy life. This will be in the market this month.
Crock-Pot WeMo Smart Slow Cooker – this is perfect for the guys who live in the kitchen their entire life. Seriously, when you need a way to monitor and control cooking times as well as temperature through your smart device, remember the name of this product. This will be out in spring.
iRobot Scooba 450 – for the homebodies, the greasy build-up on the floor is quite a discomfort. Fortunately, there is now the Scooba 450 floor scrubbing robot by iRobot able to clean up to 99.3 of the dirt on the hard flooring surfaces at home. It is already available for $599.
Asus Transformer Book Duet TD300 – I am personally excited about this one. With a quad-core Intel i7 processor and 4GB of RAM, this tablet/laptop sure can support multi-tasking all day. And if you are a developer, this device is a 2-in-1 treat as it allows switching between Windows 8.1 and Android with a push of a button.
D-Link Wi-Fi AC750 Portable Router and Charger – dying to bring your 802.11ac home network with you anywhere? Well, here’s your fix by D-Link. It’s absolutely a worthy addition to an extending list of multi-purpose devices. DIR-510L also comes with a 4,000mAh battery that can refill your iPhone’s dead battery to full whenever necessary.
Tablo over-the-air DVR – scheduled for shipping in February, Tablo is your fix on streaming free over-the-air TV to all smart devices you own. The device works by storing to an external hard drive the recorded free over-the-air TV, which can then be streamed to other devices via a home network.
